Road trip Livingstone to Nairobi

In mid-August 2023, we met 5 other senior couples in Livingstone, Zambia, and formed in total 6 teams. Our common goal was to bring 6 old and original Land Rover Defender to Nairobi by road. The Kenyan provider "Africa Expedition Support" offers this tour twice a year, once southbound and once northbound. It is a huge adventure filled with everything Africa has to offer: beautiful landscapes, massive potholes, warm-hearted people, dust and diesel everywhere, comfortable accommodations but also very basic camping sites, lots of wild animals, sweat and tears, joy and frustration, breakdowns and rescue missions, and ... a group dynamic that cannot be described.

Complete strangers with nothing in common than a shared love for Africa come together and form a close-knit community for 4 weeks and over 5,000 km through 4 countries, a bond that must function smoothly. Everyone has to pitch in, and individual "failures" immediately affect the entire group. It is one of the greatest adventures we have ever embarked on and something that fills us with immense pride.
It definitely is the ultimate badge of honor for Africa enthusiasts ... and it's great fun!
